And now it's over, and I'm glad

So this has been kind of a weird week so far. I have spent most of it suffering from some nebulous malady that I suspect would be described in romantic terms back in Victorian times, like consumption, or wasting sickness, or something sexy like that. I still don't know what it was, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't actually tuberculosis. The best way I could describe it to the husband was that it felt like I was bleeding to death. Soooo tired, weak, dizzy, achy and generally drained and completely sans appetite. No fever, no other symptoms. Huh. That sucked.

While I was busy drinking lots of tea and having the vapors or whatever, the dog ate everything in the house. He ate my reading glasses and one of H's stretchy headbands and a whole box of Kleenex and he tried to eat my computer mouse but we got that away from him in time. He ate a receipt. And some fireplace rocks. And the husband's earbuds. He is trying to destroy us all, and I suspect the proper name of my recent malady is something along the lines of Oh My God, This Dog. It's a good thing he's cute. And fast.

Anyway, today I'm feeling much better and the dog is tethered to the husband's office door with all of his toys and water and food and stuff (the dog's toys, etc., not the husband's). I'm thinking yak stew for dinner! Yes, really!

It's good to be back.

  1. Hey-- I went to the CP Farmer's market this weekend. It was amazing! I wish our market in FW was half as cool. I have Yak ribeyes and confit of pork belly to cook. I also bought breakfast sausage and Duck Eggs. We had the best Indian food. Yummy!

  2. hi ya, your adorable dog is probably teething. wants to chew chew chew. run right this minute and get some beef hide (not raw hide) shaped bones ones that have been basted in something like chicken or beef. something that he has to really chew on for a long time.buy several cuz when they loose their flavor they will discard that one and you will have another. he will chew till he falls asleep
there are also actual bones they can chew on that have some yummy in the middle of them after they have eaten that you can put some other yummy in it. we put peanut butter in ours, not a lot just enuf to get junie moon to focused on the bone.
puppys are a lot of work i had forgotten that when we got ours.
oh yeah and glad ur feeling better.

  4. A puppy is a newborn with sharp teeth who can run and doesn't wear diapers.

  5. I really thought I was the only person whose dog ate her glasses - twice.

Glad you are feeling better and remember, soon your dog will be grown up.

But he will still eat things.

  6. My mental picture of someone having the vapo[u]rs seems to include steam rising off the sick person, and them crying. I must have first read about the vapours at an impressionable and youngish age, clearly.

Glad you are feeling better though.

  8. Our 1 1/2 year old mastiff is over 100 pounds now and still eats everything! I mean everything...eye glasses, remote controls, books and magazines, about six throw pillows, three expensive dog beds (in ONE week?), the ruffles off my pillow shams, my fleece throw blankets, every throw rug in our house has the corners eaten out of them. I could go on forever. I pray she will outgrow this stage soon or I will go crazy! Good thing she is the cutest pup ever, or she would be a forever outside dog :)

  10. It's the change of seasons with a soupcon of time change thrown in that has you all consumptive. Really. It's science. My science, but science none-the-less.

    Glad you're feeling better.
